Sam Sampson first began judo in 2010 at the age of 14 at the Sobell Judo Club. Closely following his father, he went on the achieve his 1st Dan by the age of 16, 2nd Dan at the age of 18 and 3rd Dan at 27. Sam has continued to develop his technical and competitive judo as an active competitor across both judo and other forms of grappling.
He claimed the WJF European Championship in 2016, placed 2nd at the WJF World Championships in 2019 and qualified for the IJF Cypriot National Team in 2019 by taking 3rd at the Pancyprian Championships; followed by a second bronze in 2022. Since, he has competed on the IJF European Judo Tour and taken 3rd place at the 2023 World Sports Games representing Cyprus. In 2024, he became the European Ground Fighting Champion.
Sam is also one half of the successful YouTube Channel, Sampson Judo.
